Megan’s Wedding…

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

So, Marilyn and I had the pleasure of working with Megan and her bridesmaids yesterday in Pasadena.  Megan booked the Presidential Suite at the Westin, which we always love.  If you’re getting married in the Pasadena area, the suites at the Westin are great…tons of room for all the girls, great light, and all of the amenities.  Marilyn took some great shots of the bride and bridal party…

Megan’s hair and the inspiration behind it…

For Megan’s make-up, I used a deeper foundation color sheered out with moisturizer as an all-over facial bronzer.  She’s been tanning, but avoiding her face like a good girl.  I used Temping eyeshadow by MAC which is a golden brown to give her eyelids a soft, smoky look.

Marilyn did hair and make-up for the second and fourth bridesmaid from the left in the picture below.  They both looked great!

Some of My New Favorite Beauty Products!

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

As you can imagine, I am always on a quest to find the best hair and make-up products both for weddings and personal use.  I was at Ulta the other day, and decided to finally try Amazing Concealer after hearing about it for years.  I have to say, it lives up to it’s name! It is really highly pigmented so a very tiny amount covers everything, and doesn’t look cakey or dry. The best part is that it is waterproof…perfect for all of the happy tears shed at weddings.

I also purchased a set of O-Gloss and O-Blush by Smashbox.  They are “intuitive” make-up products that work with your body chemistry to turn the perfect shade of pink for your skin tone.  I like the gloss because it gives a really fresh look that brightens up your natural lip color…I figure it will be perfect for summer!

The blush is cool because it almost has the texture of a skin primer, so it seems to smooth out the pores on the cheek area…it starts out with no color and then when it makes contact with the skin, it looks like a cheek stain.

 Enjoy!

Dana

Friday, April 4th, 2008

I just got these beautiful photos of our October ‘07 brides, Dana from photographer Rachel Priddy, who recently relocated to Arizona. Dana’s bridesmaid, Laura, was one of our ‘06 brides so it was really fun to get to work with this group of girls again! Dana and her girls were all about glamour, so we did dramatic make-up and hair extensions!!  For Dana’s hair, I used a set of clip-in hair extensions her friend just happened to have that matched perfectly.  They added both length and fullness to her style.  We can make you a set of custom clip-in extensions that can be used both on your wedding day and afterwards any time you want to add a bit of glamour!  Dana has a bubbly personality, so for her make-up, I kept her skin glowing and gave her a healthy glow using Tarte cheekstain in “Flush.”  Here are some photos of Dana….

Shama and Cat

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

I had the amazing opportunity to work with Stephanie Williams of Next Exit recently on a couple of shoots and thought I’d share some pictures.  The first was Shama’s wedding.  Shama had amazing features to work with…beautiful eyes, great skin, and long, dark hair.  She’s from Sri Lanka and was wearing two different saris, so I got to do really dramatic eyes with gold and fuschia.  Her hair was inspired from a photo she brought of a Bollywood actress, so we added clip-in extensions and some braids to achieve the look.  I was thrilled with the outcome!  Mandi work with me and did the hair for Shama’s bridesmaids…don’t they look great?!

The second shoot was Cat from Next Exit ’s maternity shoot.  I was thrilled when asked me to do her hair and make-up because we’ve worked together a ton the past few years on weddings and Cat has been shooting my son Jude to capture his first year in pictures.  Cat looked absolutely amazing…she barely even looked pregnant aside from her cute tummy.  She wanted something a little edgy for her hair, so I dried it straight (she has naturally curly hair) and then went back in and added tousled waves and a little bit of 60s edge with lots of volume in the crown.  For the make-up, I had to add lashes (my favorite!), and enhanced her already glowing skin.  What a hot momma!
