Need a Veil?

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

For years, I have heard about this woman in Brea who makes bridal veils that are reasonably priced compared to those found in bridal shops.  She is located in Brea and gets many rave reviews…I guess you can tell her what you want and she’ll make it for you.  Anyhow, one of my lovely brides gave me her card, so I thought I’d pass on her info for anyone looking for a veil:

Better Late Than Never!

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Alex got married last year and I still have not posted her gorgeous wedding photos! Her photographer was Aaron Delesie, who is supremely talented at capturing a woman’s beauty on her wedding day.  He has photographed quite a few of my brides in the past few years and I’m always thrilled with the results.  Another great thing about Aaron is that he always takes the time to get detail shots of the hair…love that!

About the hair and make-up:

Alex wanted her hair to appear a little longer and fuller, so as I often do, I made her a set of clip-in hair extensions.  We didn’t even use the whole set, so the look was very natural.  I added soft curls and swept her hair away from her face with a suptle side part.  For her make-up, we chose soft pinks and mauves for the ultimate bridal look.  I think she will be able to look back at these photos for years to come and be happy with the look she chose…She looks timeless and elegant!

Tessa’s Shoot with Ray from Apertura Photo

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Ray from Apertura Photography  contacted us with a personal photo project he had in mind, so  Tessa went out on Saturday to do make-up for the shoot.  Ray is amazingly talented and makes me wish I could be a photographer  :)  To see more of Ray’s work, go to www.aperturaphoto.com/blog.

Tessa did a phenomenal job on the make-up…I love the super dark smoky eyes against the model’s light eye color.  It really adds to the mood of the images.    If you’d like to book Tessa for your wedding or event, email us at info@onlocationbeauty.com.  She rocks!

New Headshot

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

So, I thought I’d share what the magic of hair, make-up, and a great photographer can do using myself as the guinea pig.  I needed a new headshot for an interview I did with a bridal magazine, so Joe Latter  graciously offered to take some pictures of me. It was interesting being on the other side of the camera, since Joe and I have worked together quite a few times both on commercial jobs and weddings.  Joe used the beautiful natural light of his studio in Long Beach and was able to capture just the look I was going for.

As I’m sure you can tell, lashes make a huge difference…I used half lashes on the top with liner top and bottom and LOTS of mascara.  Another key is blush…a little pink on the cheeks and lips really makes green eyes pop because light green and pink are complementary colors.  I used Dollymix blush and Viva Glam VI lipgloss by MAC, which are two great pinks .  If you have blue eyes, try using coral blush like Cheek from MAC.  And finally, I really think hair needs to be fuller in pictures…can you see how making my hair fuller really balances out and softens my long face? I used Kerastase Volumactiv Mousse and diffused my hair to achieve soft waves.  If you have straight hair, you can simply wrap 1″ sections of your hair around a 1 1/2″ curling iron and then use a little of Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray to enhance the texture.

Here’s the before (Yikes!)……After……And WAY after (With Retouching!)…

Joe, you’re a retouching wizard! If I could only look like that every day!!

Jane’s Wedding

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Marilyn and I had the pleasure of working with Jane and her bridesmaids a couple of weeks ago on her wedding.  They have been friends since childhood, so they were tons of fun (As you can see below).

Photographer extraordinaire, Jasmine Star did such a beautiful job of capturing the hair and make-up with these photos that I couldn’t even narrow it down …so here are a ton!   :)

I like how each girl’s hair really shows her unique personality…

I like this make-up shot.  Her skin looks so smooth :)

Love these…the angles of her face really show off her bone structure!

A great shot of the bridesmaid’s hair…

Love this…You can see the detail of Jane’s hair.  We added a wavy texture to her hair, and this lighting really shows it off.  The Tacori pins in her hair were “Something Borrowed” from one of my ‘06 brides, Sharon :) I was so excited when Jane told me.

Here’s a photo of Sharon’s hair (Photo By Red Loft Studios) :

P.S. This is the “Transformer Hair” that a lot of you have been asking about…I sewed her hair into a low, soft chignon and then she was able to clip a string to release a cascade of curls for her reception.  Fun, eh?
