Heidi and Jessica

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

As you may know, one of my favorite things about what I do is getting to work with my clients again after their weddings.  I worked with Heidi on her wedding a couple of years ago when Jessica was a bridesmaid and recently did Jessica’s wedding with Heidi as a bridesmaid.  So fun! I just got some pictures from Jim Kennedy of Jessica and am so excited to share them.  While I’m at it, I’ll include some shots from Heidi’s wedding.

Stephanie Brockman (Jim’s wife) was the photographer for both weddings and provided all of the beautiful images for this post…Here is a cute shot of Heidi and Jessica together:

I don’t think I’ve ever seen eyes as gorgeous as Heidi’s in my life…they are the most spectacular shade of green.  I didn’t have to do much to make her stand out! We did use Benetint on her lips, which is a great alternative to lipstick…It gives the lips really fresh-looking pink color without the feel of gloss or lipstick.  For Heidi’s hair, I gave her soft waves and rolled it into a soft twist.

Here was the insiration for Heidi’s hair:

And now for Jessica…

What I loved about Jessica is that she loves blush! We used a bright pink blush over her bronzed skin to give her the gorgeous glow you see in her photos.  We went pretty natural on the make-up overall…For her hair, we added soft waves and did a low chignon.  Isn’t her dress amazing?!

Two Sisters

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

A couple weeks ago, I was honored to work with Jessica for her wedding at the St. Regis in Dana Point.  Jessica was referred to me by her lovely sister, Olivia, whose hair and make-up I did for some post-wedding portraits (below).  On top of being two of the most gorgeous brides I’ve had the pleasure of working with, they were both super sweet and a joy to work with.

All of these photos are courtesy of  Sir Harrison Photography.  Michelle Weita from Details, Details was the coordinator for Jessica’s wedding. and let me tell you…it was a GORGEOUS reception…I got to watch her team set up the room during the ceremony. :)

Here is Olivia…we did soft, smoky eyes and an up-do that sat high on her head with loose curls.  We attached a really cute pin in the front of her hair for a modern twist.  She has a smile that lights up a room as you can tell from the photos below…

And Jessica…We used charcoal, plum, and black eyeshadows to create a smoky look.  Jessica brought some really cool lashes that she got in Vietnam…I’ve since ordered a ton because I loved how they looked.

This is my favorite make-up shot…her eyes are so gorgeous!

Could she be any cuter?! Sir lifted her up on the piano for this shot…she was such a sport!

This really shows the make-up…you can see what an impact the lashes have and really see the intensity of the eye shadow.

I like this hair shot:

Tessa and Marilyn did the make-up and hair for the bridesmaids.

Here’s a sweet note we received from Jessica:

“I was extremely happy with how all of our hair and make-up turned out, ESPECIALLY mine!!  You did such an amazing job, and I am so grateful for your hard work, and running around with me to “touch-up”.  It was so hectic that I didn’t get an actually get a good opportunity to personally thank you for everything… so a million times THANK YOU!!  Please thank the ladies that worked on my bridesmaids hair and makeup… you guys were all awesome!”

Thank you, Jessica, for inviting us to be a part of your wonderful wedding day!!

Better Late Than Never!

Alex got married last year and I still have not posted her gorgeous wedding photos! Her photographer was Aaron Delesie, who is supremely talented at capturing a woman’s beauty on her wedding day.  He has photographed quite a few of my brides in the past few years and I’m always thrilled with the results.  Another great thing about Aaron is that he always takes the time to get detail shots of the hair…love that!

About the hair and make-up:

Alex wanted her hair to appear a little longer and fuller, so as I often do, I made her a set of clip-in hair extensions.  We didn’t even use the whole set, so the look was very natural.  I added soft curls and swept her hair away from her face with a suptle side part.  For her make-up, we chose soft pinks and mauves for the ultimate bridal look.  I think she will be able to look back at these photos for years to come and be happy with the look she chose…She looks timeless and elegant!

Megan’s Wedding…

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

So, Marilyn and I had the pleasure of working with Megan and her bridesmaids yesterday in Pasadena.  Megan booked the Presidential Suite at the Westin, which we always love.  If you’re getting married in the Pasadena area, the suites at the Westin are great…tons of room for all the girls, great light, and all of the amenities.  Marilyn took some great shots of the bride and bridal party…

Megan’s hair and the inspiration behind it…

For Megan’s make-up, I used a deeper foundation color sheered out with moisturizer as an all-over facial bronzer.  She’s been tanning, but avoiding her face like a good girl.  I used Temping eyeshadow by MAC which is a golden brown to give her eyelids a soft, smoky look.

Marilyn did hair and make-up for the second and fourth bridesmaid from the left in the picture below.  They both looked great!

Some of My New Favorite Beauty Products!

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

As you can imagine, I am always on a quest to find the best hair and make-up products both for weddings and personal use.  I was at Ulta the other day, and decided to finally try Amazing Concealer after hearing about it for years.  I have to say, it lives up to it’s name! It is really highly pigmented so a very tiny amount covers everything, and doesn’t look cakey or dry. The best part is that it is waterproof…perfect for all of the happy tears shed at weddings.

I also purchased a set of O-Gloss and O-Blush by Smashbox.  They are “intuitive” make-up products that work with your body chemistry to turn the perfect shade of pink for your skin tone.  I like the gloss because it gives a really fresh look that brightens up your natural lip color…I figure it will be perfect for summer!

The blush is cool because it almost has the texture of a skin primer, so it seems to smooth out the pores on the cheek area…it starts out with no color and then when it makes contact with the skin, it looks like a cheek stain.

 Enjoy!
