Elena Damy

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

I had the pleasure of doing hair and make-up for Elena Damy for some new headshots for her website.  Elena is a fabulous floral designer in Cabo San Lucas, so if you’re planning a destination wedding in Mexico, she is highly sought after and one of the sweetest people ever! Elena came to LA for the shoot and the photos were taken at Disney Concert Hall.  Elena wanted a clean, natural look for both her hair and make-up.

Ryan Phillips took these beautiful pictures of her:

Thank you, Elena, for having me do your hair and make-up! I had a blast :) Can’t wait to work with you on a wedding in Cabo!!

Kari :)

Cat and Adi from Next Exit just posted the photos from Kari’s wedding, so I’m super excited to share them! There are more photos of the wedding on their blog if you want to check them out, but I posted the ones that showed off the hair and make-up.

Kari was not afraid of make-up and hair, so we went glamourous with black-rimmed eyes, lashes and extensions!! I think she was a stunning bride.

Bridesmaids by Sherry, Mandi, and Tessa!

The happy couple!

Nellie’s Wedding

Monday, October 6th, 2008

I was ecstatic when Nellie hired me to do her wedding.  She’s a fashion designer in NYC with impeccable taste.  Nellie wanted something very chic and non-traditional for her wedding and brought a photo from a fashion show where they used fishtail braids to create a low bun.  Fun!

Nellie’s hair required some prep work…I needed extensions to create the braids, so I bought a dark brown and used some light brown that I already had to create highlights to match Nellie’s hair perfectly.  After braiding, I ran a flat-iron over the braid with some Elnett hairspray and Murray’s pomade to smooth the surface and eliminate fly-aways.  I can thank my adorable husband, Ryan, for reminding me of the flat-iron trick with braids! (Poor thing has been forced to watch hairstyling videos with me!) Side note: If you can get your hands on some Elnett hairspray, you will love it! It is really light and brush-able, but has great hold.

Here’s our workstation on the big day!

And the final hair style! I was so excited about it!! Ladies, if you want to incorporate braids into your look, I’m all for it!

And here are the beautiful images taken by Nellie’s photographer, Duke Khodaverdian

Nellie wanted a smoky eye with a matte texture, so I used black, gray and charcoal brown to achieve the look.  I added lots of individual lashes and some waterproof liquid liner in the lash-line for added “pop”.  I like how dark the lashes register in the black and white photos!

And here’s the final look!! Thank you so much, Nellie! It was so much fun working with you on your big day!!

Maggie’s Wedding

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

I am so excited to share these pictures, taken by the fabulous Kim Fox.  I knew Maggie was going to look great in photos and Kim really did a great job capturing how beautiful she was.  I did her hair and make-up in the adorable Bridal Cottage at the Adamson House in Malibu.  Maggie went with a half-up do and wanted natural make-up with an emphasis on her eyes.

I love this shot of her eyes!!! Thank you Kim! We definitely used false lashes and liner top and bottom.

I used a true pink for her blush to give her that really radiant, healthy glow that works so perfectly for a bride.  For this look, try Tarte cheek stain in Flush.

Not only is this a touching photo of him wiping away her tears, but it really shows of her awesome bone structure!

Virra’s Wedding

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Last week, Tessa, Marilyn and I had the pleasure of working with Virra and her bridesmaids at the Montage in Laguna Beach.  I got to work with one of my favorite coordinators, Michelle Weita from Details, Details and the supremely talented Jasmine Star of Jasmine Star Photography.  It was a beatiful day and we all had a blast.

Here are some photos from Jasmine:

For Virra’s look, she wanted DRAMATIC eye make-up, so I did a smoky eye with black, charcoal, and deep plum.  We did false lashes top and bottom.  Virra’s hair included a full set of clip in extensions.  I curled it with a medium iron, backcombed it for volume, and secured it to the side for a tousled look.  I especially like how her hair looks in that last shot on the beach…so pretty!!

I think he liked it!!……….
